Leica Digilux 1 photos

The pictures on this page was taken solely with the Leica Digilux 1 digital camera.
Serial no 2807034, produced 2001.

To me there was three reasons to chose this camera:
1.
Delivers film-like pictures and not the flat, video like pictures most digital cameras produce. When you look for digital, you look at lots of closeup shots which show the difference in details from different digital cameras. You look for clean, sharp pictures. However, at some point I started looking at the whole picture and there the Digilux 1 just stands out. The pictures got soul!

2.
Ease of use. Logic. Cool design. Unbreakable. Even my kids can use it. It feels and looks like a camera, not a piece of electronic equipment.

3.
The f. 2.0 lens which allows one to take pictures "in dark" at 100 ISO (no digital cameras, in my opinion at least, can deliver 200 or 400 ISO without loss in quality). The D1 allows you to take pictures at 100 ISO where most cameras need 200 or 400 ISO to do the same - and then there will be digital noise in the pictures.

Strolling through Copenhagen in August 2003 I tried to shoot pictures from the hip (like you do with the Russian LOMO camera) and this was one of the pictures.
